How we rate
Every listing carries a rating out of 5. This page explains exactly what that number is built from, so you can disagree with it on an informed basis.
The five criteria
Each platform is assessed on the same five axes, then summarised into a single rating out of 5.
- — Catalogue — breadth and depth of what is actually available, not what is advertised.
- — Playback and interface — load speed, player reliability, how usable the site is on a phone.
- — Advertising pressure — how much of the experience is taken up by ads, pop-ups and redirects.
- — Access conditions — whether an account, a payment or an identity check is required to get anywhere.
- — Value — what you get for free versus what is locked, and whether a paid tier is worth it.
What the badges mean
Three badges appear on listings and carry no weight beyond what they state.
- — Low / Moderate / Heavy ads — advertising pressure observed on the platform.
- — Premium — the platform is built around a paid subscription rather than free access.
- — Accessible / Blocked in France — whether the platform is reachable from France without a VPN.
How rankings are ordered
Category pages are ordered by editorial rating, highest first. Visitor votes are displayed on each listing but do not reorder the ranking — they are there so you can see where our rating and the audience disagree.
What we do not do
- — No paid placement — no platform can buy a position, a rating or an entry.
- — No review written or approved by the platform being reviewed.
- — No rating changed on request. Factual errors are corrected; a verdict is not negotiable.
Reporting an outdated rating
Platforms change. If a rating no longer matches what a site offers, tell us at xsitelist@ultramail.fr and say what changed — the listing gets reassessed rather than nudged.
